Jekabpils Jewish Community

The community was founded in 1994. According to data of 2008, it numbers 42 members.  Jewish community of Jekabpils is a member of Latvian Council of Jewish Communities.

There are three main activities that the community considers to be most important within its mission. One of them is waking national self-identification, houseling to Jewish culture and traditions, celebrating national and religious holidays and events. Another activity is keeping two Jewish cemeteries in order and setting monuments in places where Jews were killed during the Holocaust. For example, a monument was set in Lamani, in 2001. Special attention is paid to helping the ill, needy and lonely people.
