Riga Jewish Private School "Ohel Menahem" Chabad

The school is opened since 1995. The founders of the school are the world-wide Chabad Lubavitch movement, Rabbi Mordehai and Rivka Glazman. The school is supported by the “Or Avner”.

Today it is an accredited school where children are educated according to the program of Ministry of Education of Latvia, study English and Hebrew, work on the computers not only during lessons of informatics, but  also during other school disciplines. Children study Jewish history and traditions; are taught to read Torah.

The school has chemic and physics lab tooled up in a modern way, classes are furnished with audio and video equipment.

The Library has a selection of books in Latvian and Russian, including a great number of educational Jewish literature and fiction. It also offers both audio and video tapes, and literature on laser discs.

In the beginning of 2008/2009 school year, 85 children studied in Grades 1-9. The staff consists of 28 teachers including a psychologist and speech therapist. Vocal, dance and theatre groups work at school. Lessons of corrective gymnastics are regularly held. 

Kosher Kitchen at school provides children with hot meals 3 times a day.

School bus brings children to school from all districts of Riga and Jurmala and takes them home at the end of the school day.
